Traveling Exhibits

Traveling exhibits provide unique opportunities to introduce your audience to new areas of interest and excitement. Miami Children’s Museum currently partners with other children’s museums, cultural institutions and national organizations to host a variety of traveling exhibitions in the 2,500 square foot “What’s New?” Exhibit Gallery that engages our South Florida audience in subjects such as literacy, science, culture, history, careers and the environment.

Additionally, Miami Children’s Museum has designed and fabricated its own traveling exhibits that tour different children’s museums and cultural institutions throughout the country and internationally. Most recently, the Museum worked in collaboration with Disney Junior to debut the first-ever museum based exhibit based on Disney Junior’s hit series, “The Lion Guard.” The exhibit debuted at Miami Children’s Museum in January 2018 and will tour through 2022. Similarly, Miami Children’s Museum created The Wizard of Oz™ Educational Exhibit, the first-ever licensed traveling educational exhibit based on the classic movie. Created by the Museum and licensed by Warner Bros., the exhibit first debut in Miami in 2010 and since then has traveled throughout the country.

The Lion Guard: The Exhibit

Miami Children’s Museum launched the first-ever museum exhibit based on Disney Junior’s hit series, “The Lion Guard,” which continues the epic storytelling of “The Lion King” and follows the adventures of Kion, the second-born cub of Simba and Nala, and his diverse group of friends as they unite to protect the Pride Lands. The exhibit debuted at Miami Children’s Museum in January 2018 and is now traveling to other children’s museums across the country through 2022.

Spotlighting important learning areas such as social and self-development, problem solving, creative thinking and arts & culture, this one-of-a-kind exhibit will bring “The Lion Guard” story to life for young children and their families. Through hands-on activities and interactive and imaginative play, guests will be transported to the Pride Lands to discover the unique traits of each member of The Lion Guard team – Kion, the leader of the group and the fiercest in all of the Pride Lands; Bunga, a fearless honey badger and the Pride Lands’ bravest; Fuli, a confident cheetah and the fastest in the Pride Lands; Beshte, a friendly and good-spirited hippo and the strongest in the Pride Lands; and Ono, an intellectual egret who is keenest of sight – that allow them to work together to maintain balance in the Circle of Life.
